  7. Uses the ALT key to activate the menu bar; this conflicts with the DESQ key. 
  8. This is not a problem unless you are trying to do a TRANSFER into the Desktop
  9. window.  Since the Desktop menu activates every time you hit the DESQ key,
  10. transfers into the window will go to the menu.  Setting the DESQ key to the
  11. CTRL key solves this.

  15. This parameter tells Desktop to go into 350 line mode on a VGA system.  This
  16. option produces no results in a virtualized window and probably adds overhead
  17. not needed.  If you are running in a NON-virtualized window then the results
  18. are as expected.  If you use a program that uses ASCII 176-178 to produce a
  19. background 'grid', the 350 line parameter simply eliminates the white space
  20. between the characters when you place them next to each other.

  22. Memory Size
  23.  
  24. Desktop seems to need a minimum of 312k before you stop getting insufficient
  25. memory messages (311k produces a load error) using MS DOS 3.30.  This stays the
  26. same whether you have DESQview load it or COMMAND.COM.  I ran all of my tests
  27. at this memory size and was able to access all of Desktop's options
  28. simultaneously.  Large documents or databases would probably require settings
  29. much higher than this.

  31. Summary: All functions of Desktop appeared to work well either stand alone or
  32. when running combinations of its different features on both an IBM model 55sx
  33. and an AST Premium 286.

  35. PC-CACHE:

  37. No problems noted with PC-CACHE using expanded memory on PS/2 Model 55sx and
  38. AST Premium 286
